Almost there: directions from the Painted Dog Centre (PDC): For all guests that booked a transfer from here, one of our team members will meet and greet you here. If you have a good vehicle for off road driving you may self drive through our private concession to the lodge (ca. 7 km. through forest and on the Dete Vlei) or follow our vehicle and park it at the lodge. In dry season the roads may be too sandy for vehicles without 4×4 drive, in which case we advise to leave your car safely parked at the Painted Dog Centre and join our transfer.
Keep in mind: the Speed Limit on the main road max 120 km/h, but drive slow when passing villages and be aware of stray cattle/goats and wildlife which can cross the road at any time. Around Hwange town there is a 20 km stretch of speed limit 80 km/h.
There are a few tollgates which will ask for USD$2, depending from which direction you travel.
Police road blocks: keep in mind that there could be police road blocks along the way. This is to inspect licensing and vehicle safety and rules (eg. license number light/required reflector stickers/insurance etc.).
